CounSol's customer service is amazing. My rep gets back with me same day, usually within minutes via phone or email. There are suggestions I have made that end up being implemented. They are always striving to improve features.

Pros

It is most helpful to reduce administrative tasks. Reminder phone calls, cards saved on file, filing and billing made easy, clients self scheduling, etc.

Cons

There are things I feel could be streamlined and also would like to see more variety in the reports that are available.

Happy I made the choice to use CounSol!

Pros

I appreciate all of the different options to create my own templates and all of the features involved. I also really like the option of being able to keep all of my communication with Clients through CounSol and that it is HIPAA secure.

Cons

Some of the calendar features and assigning codes/costs can be confusing. All of the positives involving the calendar (e.g. client reminder options) outweigh the negatives though and I just use the features I understand/add value to my practice.

My notes are getting done quicker bc it's easier to get them done, I've realized although it's cheaper and there are some features that are better than my old product, it's not as professional as my old product and doesn't offer as many resources for measures that I would use as a LCSW

The intake measures aren't pulled into the initial intake note. This doesn't create a professional looking intake note like the other system I used. No ability to write a formal short note about a phone session, or missed sessions when you void the invoice you can't document it. Can't send attachments in an email via this site that I don't want to make available to all clients. The billing feature pages are very confusing and can be very overwhelming. The measures offered are limited and personally I don't want to have to input them and/or recreate them and it doesn't allow me to send specific measures to individual clients. It's like a one size fits all with this product.

Overall it's been a positive experience. I came from a big-name CRM for therapists and absolutely hated it. CounSol addressed many of those issues, but fell short in other ways. Still, I like the service I'm receiving and my questions are answered in a professional and friendly fashion. I would recommend this to others.

Pros

*I really like the ability to customize my dashboard. When I log in to my account, I see what's needed and I don't see anything else.
*Scheduling sessions is a breeze after you get the hang of it.
*Their connection with Stripe helps with payments.
*The ability to send multiple reminders is nice (although anything over one is extra).
*I've had good customer service experiences and they were always friendly and helpful.

Cons

*Not having 2-way calendar integration is a killer. There have been multiple times I have scheduled clients over personal events because I can't have event times blocked off. Massive miss.
*Not having Zoom integration is also brutal. It adds multiple steps for me, which are not desirable. I get it; they want you to use their proprietary video software. I tried it, and 4 out of 5 clients had difficulty.
*Charging for a second and third email reminder is kind of ridiculous, in my opinion. This is a needed service, and it's extra no matter what plan you're on.
*If you add a service, you have to jump through a few hoops to get the scheduler to pick it up and allow you to schedule it. Too many hoops to jump through instead of it being streamlined.
*You have to manually add each service code into each service. This gets old. Allow a master code for the client and anytime it changes we can go in to manually change it.

SimplePractice wasn't updating their service, customer service was mediocre, and they don't take ANY suggestions from the community to make updates. They wouldn't even let me schedule sessions in different time zones. It was bad for clients who were in a different time zone and some showed up late, or early, to sessions. But what really was bad is there is an entire community writing on the help desk website for them to make improvements and when I brought up the improvement of allowing us to schedule in the client's time zone the customer service person shared the owner shot that down and said no he wouldn't make that change to the site. Plus they charge an extra $20 or $30 just to have calendar integration!!!!

CarePatron was still in the rolling out features stage when I made the switch. I really liked the ability to custom-create forms and schedule clients with Zoom integration. It was only due to it being quasi complete is the reason for making the shift to CounSol. Their price point was amazing as well! I'd recommend them as a backup if CounSol doesn't work for someone.

We understand your concern regarding the cost for additional session reminders. Surprisingly, this is not a commonly used feature but we like to offer it for folks who would like more than the single reminder that is included with all memberships. Since we must to pay a fee per outgoing SMS to make text notifications possible, offering multiple text notifications for all members would increase the membership prices for all. Given the lack of popularity of this feature overall, we decided to keep prices the same and offer this as an upgrade instead. Thanks!

I appreciate the user friendly interface and the amazing customer support.

Cons

I think the list of forms in the client portal could be improved since clients seem to get confused about whether they need to complete the optional forms (such as the Release of Information). It would be nice if there was a way to have interactive forms so a client could answer a few basic questions and that would then trigger which other forms should be required.

I have no intention of changing EHR's. I have used quite a few over the years and really like the ease of this platform. I like being able to contact someone if I have issues and the help section is very helpful.

Pros

I have a customer service person I can email at anytime that I am having an issue and have a question. When I first started, he was getting daily emails as I was learning the software. Now it is occasional as I know the program after 3 years but still he he answers all questions quickly. I like that I can use Counsol on every platform and it is adaptable for my practice needs. I do like the email portion, that it has an integrated televideo platform (not the best with iffy internet) and integrated billing/insurance claims

Cons

The clearinghouse is Ally and they have a smaller portion of the insurance market. I can still submit claims but have to pay $35/month if more claims submitted to non-participating vs participating insurances. I do a workaround by creating paper claims in Counsol and use portals such as Availity or directly to Optum. The billing portion took me longer to learn and still have some issues with that but that is input error not programing.

My overall experience is good enough that I have remained a CounSol user for 11 years. I started as an individual practitioner and have grown a group practice, all with CounSol.

Pros

I find that CounSol is unique in having a dedicated customer service helper who responds incredibly quickly. I like how we can create as many of our own forms as we want, and all of the features for assigning forms and documents. I really like the transparency of cost, and since we don't pay per client, it is very cost effective for a growing practice. Our clients love the client portal, and we find the journal system a helpful feature as well, especially for clients who want to be in touch without having to respond (we respond to messages). We like the portal for our email with clients. The billing system works very well too. I guess we pretty much like everything.

Cons

I think CounSol has a dated appearance (skin), however the features are so good, and the look is easy to navigate.

I have been with Counsol.com for over 10 years now and it has always worked and got the job done. I wish that as technology has grown there were more webinars or trainings on how to use the software more effectively and that the notes temples were included like it is in other software programs. When ever I need something the customer service is quick to help and love my problem. This customer service is what has kept me all these years.

Pros

I like the way that it keeps everything in one place and is very user friendly for my clients

Cons

That the video software included does not allow for group sessions, with the technology available today I think this is a huge inconvenience and makes the software less functional for my practice needs.

I have no complaints, and my experience with CounSol has been great! I enjoy the personalized feeling, not feeling like we are just a number. Our account manager has been with us every step of the way since we started our company. His support provides a peace of mind in knowing CounSol is dependable, reliable, and worth every penny.

Pros

CounSol is cheaper than Simple Practice. Having an account manager is so helpful! Whenever we have a question or need to upload a new file, we send it to him, and he gets it done within hours. What I love the most is the ability to customize forms, assessments, and files. The organization ability within CounSol also makes it easy to find files and forms. Also, the client portal through CounSol is also easy to navigate and helpful for client's to retrieve forms and documents.

Cons

I don't have many cons—it's hard to think of them. But one that pops up is offering more formatting options depending on the form being completed. Another is offering the ability to rearrange folders more simply, rather than having to move them up or down one at a time.

Pros

Although it took some time to set up, my favorite thing about CounSol is the customizability of the platform. It really gives you a very easy way to house and manage everything for your practice including intake forms, uploaded patient documents, notes, etc. I also like the user-friendliness of the platform. I have a virtual admin and they say that it's one of the easiest EHR's to use right away.

Cons

The thing that I like least is just that it takes some time to customize things. It's not a horribly negative thing, but there is a bit of a curve to making the custom forms I needed. Once I did, it was not an issue. And my assigned IT person made it really easy to resolve any issues. He been helpful and very accessible.

CounSol User and Administrator for over 2+ Years

The reports it can generate; efficient and fast customer service; appointment scheduling; houses billing needs and provides superbills to clients under their own portal.

Cons

I have had a negative experience in the recent year or so with CardConnect customer service. When I first began using CounSol as a business owner (5+ years ago), the customer service was excellent and it was easy to see why CounSol would partner with CardConnect. In the last year, I have had to call as a result of not receiving payouts for the merchant processor. In these calls, it's loud and the representatives do not speak English well which complicates resolving problems and communicating those problems efficiently. They basically repeat everything I say then put me on hold. It's a lengthy process and, each time I ask why the money was not deposited, they do not provide an answer - it's hard to tell if this is because they do not know or if it's because they are not sure how to communicate that. It makes me unhappy to feel like I can't trust that the deposits will be made.

I like the ease of use of Counsol and the diversity of features.

Cons

I want clients to be able to upload documents in attachments under Counsol.
It would also be nice if you could send messages to more than 1 client at a time.

For example, when I have 2 parents that I need to communicate the same message to.

CounSol offers the best customer support with your own personal rep who responds to your needs in a very timely manner. The FAQ section is filled with lots of information to help with whatever you need.

Overall, with using CounSol.com for the past two years, I have had very few issues. This is important because I can do my work rather than deal with program issues.

Pros

I was able to integrate my video sessions, make appointments, complete documentation, complete my billing and accept client payments with one platform. I found it fairly easy to use and HIPAA compliant.

Cons

I am unable to bill through the system for some providers.

What I like most about council.com is that it is highly encrypted and that you can actually type your notes while you’re in session with a client that saves hours of time.

Cons

What I liked least was to having to enter all of my forms manually into the system that may have changed now however, once everything was entered, was very easy to use from that point

The ability to send new and continuing clients the link to get their sessions scheduled, communicate with and co-manage billing with my billing professional, appointment scheduling and seeing each morning who I will be meeting with that day. I just LOVE the ease and convenience of Counsol.

Cons

For virtual sessions, there seems to always be connection issues, sound issues, etc. More times than not, we use another product.

My experience over the years has been excellent. I also used them to store my records when I was temporarily retired and they were great.

Pros

I loved the ease of this EHR service. Whenever I had a problem on my end, such as wanting the service but needing to go part time, their customer service and flexibility was amazing. I felt like I was dealing with people who cared.

Cons

Nothing about it I can think of that I didn't like.

My overall experience has been wonderful. I rarely have cancelations. I use customized forms and notes. I have a secure way to communicate with clients and their parents. I can attach pictures to specific notes. It has everything I need.

Pros

I have been using counsol since around 2012. I tried two or three other similar services when I briefly worked for a nonprofit. Counsol has prompt, thorough, and friendly customer service—the best. I also really like the level of customization I have.

Cons

I don’t like that I can’t click and drag appointments around the calendar like I could with other software I have tried.
