Engineering and Machining with AutoCAD

I really like AutoCAD because it allows me to create drawings for my machine shop and helps the machinist see exactly what needs to be done with visual dimensions. Our machinists love the program because they say it's easy to illustrate an idea and it allows them to convert to many different files. Our customers love it because they are able to see the final product in visual before starting any work.
Pros
What I like most about AutoCAD is the ability to create blueprints for architectural designs and create 3D images of an engineering product / idea.
Cons
What I like least about AutoCAD is the difficulty to use and lack of help available within the program.

AutoCAD has enabled me to bring my ideas to life and broaden my skills to create a career for myself working with the software professionally. AutoCAD can be learned by anyone and is a great entry into CAD software that can take you into the full range of AutoDesk products.
Pros
I love how versatile and useful AutoCAD is. I've been using it for over 10 years and I love that I always can find new and creative ways to use the software, both for personal hobbies and professional work. I love seeing my ideas come to life and interacting with them precisely to get the results that I want.
Cons
At first, there was a bit of a learning curve to AutoCAD. As it can be a big program, my computer had a bit of a hard time operating efficiently while running several programs at the same time, but this is due to mostly my own hardware restrictions at the time which I ended up resolving on my own.

In General, it's a fantastic program that does drafting and design work really well. It has a host of tools and calculators that can help you with design and development work. When you know how to use the program, it's a really powerful tool that will allow you to develop professional designs and work products for clients.
Pros
It's a great program for drafting and design. When it comes to incorporating survey data, drone imagery, etc., it's hard to beat. It's really an industry standard for a reason, and is incredibly powerful when it comes to land development and other civil and environmental engineering design work. Once you get the hang of it and realize that there are many different approaches to the same solution, things get really interesting. There's also a robust online community for answering questions. Because it's an industry standard, there are tons of online tutorials and walkthroughs for a whole host of hang ups one might have.
Cons
The program can crash when designs get very complicated, and sometimes, if there's a bug in a drawing, it can be hard to remove or back out and simplify. I've had to completely start from scratch more than a handful of times which can be frustrating. Once you find out the things that tend to bog it down, there's work arounds, and ways to make it more resilient. Another drawback is that it's fairly expensive. Not a huge issue if you are working for a company, but if you'd like to use it yourself, or are a small business, it's not an insignificant expense.

the experience with AutoCAD varies depending on the user's proficiency level, specific requirements, and industry context. However, many users find AutoCAD to be a powerful and indispensable tool for their drafting and design needs.
Pros
AutoCAD is a powerful and versatile tool that can be used for a wide range of applications. Its precision, efficiency, flexibility, collaboration, compatibility, customization, and learning resources make it an essential tool for many businesses and individuals.
Cons
These cons suggest that while AutoCAD is a powerful and versatile software, it may not be the best fit for everyone, particularly those who require real-time collaboration, freehand sketching, or a more affordable solution.

My overall experience with AutoCad is just superb. Making 2D and 3D drawing, corrections are easy to make, importing and exporting file, sharing it through e-mail, are all just easy and hassle-free.
Pros
The ease of use and to draw ideas quickly are what I like most about AutoCad. The feature of easily creating a 3D and shifting views from all angles are an additional advantage of this software.
Cons
What I like least about AutoCad is that your work can be corrupted by viruses, plus you really need a high-end laptop to experience a smooth work with AutoCad, and initial costs for computer systems for this software are really high.

No matter what the other programs with advanced assistants, AutoCAD already dominates the CAD market. So you can easily meet this if you have true interests in CAD.
Pros
It's absolutely the basics in the manufacturing field I'm in. Anybody can draw with several functions(tools) and it's easy to understand how the program works.
Cons
It's quite difficult to find advanced functions without a teaching program such as a technical teaching academy where I started CAD with AutoCAD.

I no longer have to make manual drawings, now I do them all at once in AutoCAD, saving time and doing a job well done with realistic designs.
Pros
This design software has saved me time by being able to create 3D and 2D drawings in a very perfect way, which completely eliminated the need to make manual drawings to make them professionally, which also saves manufacturing costs.
Cons
Its use is not easy from the first day, you must have a lot of extensive knowledge to be able to learn how to use all its tools and although it has a user guide, many times I was unable to quickly learn how it works completely.

The program is useful for the creation of 2D drawings, with the purpose of hard-lining sketches within the computer- basically hand-drafting in a digital format.
Pros
The ability to draw up plans quickly and accurately. Very useful for sketching work and overlaying with other construction trades for coordination.
Cons
The lack of "smart" abilities within the software. AutoCADrelies on the ability of the user to draw what they can imagine, in comparison to other software on the market which have more 3D capabilities to create whole building models for coordination with engineering consultants and architect.

I have a lot of fun using AutoCAD. It's an excellent piece of software with a great degree of precision and ease of manipulation. I adore how easy it is to use to create intricate and sophisticated designs. The intuitive interface of AutoCAD is one of the features I find most appealing.
Pros
greatly reduces time. How much time would it take to manually sketch a construction plan? Things have reached entirely new heights thanks to the AutoCAD program. Any kind of design, including architectural drawings, can be completed faster. More output and more productivity follow from this.
The ease of use of this software is undoubtedly something you will enjoy. It has an easy-to-use interface that you can quickly become familiar with.
Working in 3D space is possible. In fact, you can make 3D images with AutoCAD. Compared to creating a 3D model by hand, this process is even faster. It is also possible to draw in two dimensions.
Cons
high startup expenses. With particularly high initial expenditures, AutoCAD can be highly costly. This is due to the expenses associated with software, hardware, and training. It also needs to be done on a PC.
It takes time to get the hang of using this software. AutoCAD has a wide range of functions despite being unique in its use. Because of this, it will take a long time for you to have complete knowledge.

I would say Autodesk company has done a great job in equipping this software with simple but powerful tools. I would be greatly happy if AutoDesk can somehow integrate this platform with a collaborative platform like Fusion 360.
Pros
I have been using AutoCAD since 2006 back when I was in college, and I have become a big fan of both 2D drawings and 3D design modelling. Its been a fun journey using AutoCAD as a hobby and later in my engineering career. One of the things I love the most is how the main interface is kept simple yet powerful. It makes creating 2D drawings a breeze.
Cons
3D modelling within AutoCAD is slightly messy. I would prefer to Use Fusion 360 for this job.
