I love VS code although I was overwhelmed at first but as of now its the go to code editor for me as it facilitates all my needs with its easy to use system, wide community and numerous extensions and very nice customer support.

Pros

I loved how it can be integrated with my previous work files as well as the community for it huge which helps when a certain issue arises. In addition to that the wide range of extensions present are also a huge bonus.

Cons

Some cons about VS Code is that it is confusing sometimes as there a lot of features present and it might get overwhelming to a beginner.

Versatile, Powerful, and Customizable

My overall experience with Visual Studio Code has been highly positive. It's a lightweight yet feature-rich code editor that supports multiple programming languages and provides an excellent development environment for both small projects and large-scale applications. The ease of installing and managing extensions allows you to tailor it to your specific needs, and the integrated Git support makes version control seamless. Its user interface is intuitive, and productivity-enhancing features like IntelliSense, debugging, and code refactoring tools make coding more efficient.

However, with many extensions running simultaneously, it can become resource-intensive. Still, its versatility and powerful features far outweigh this minor drawback, making it a go-to editor for most development needs.

Pros

I like most about Visual Studio Code is its flexibility and customization options. It's lightweight yet powerful, supporting a wide range of programming languages through extensions. Features like IntelliSense, Git integration, and an extensive plugin ecosystem make it great for both beginners and professionals, offering smooth workflows across different types of projects. The interface is clean, and the real-time collaboration tools are useful for team projects.

Cons

I like least about Visual Studio Code is that it can sometimes become resource-intensive, especially when using multiple extensions. This can cause the editor to lag or slow down on less powerful machines. Additionally, its built-in terminal, while useful, isn't as robust as standalone terminal applications, and managing extensions can sometimes be overwhelming due to the sheer volume available. Despite these, it's still a highly functional and versatile tool.

My overall experience with visual studio code has been pretty amazing. I started with sublime text at first but then having seen the workspace folder integrations built-in terminal and extensive extension support I eventually switched to studio code which took a little learning at first but then changed the way i have been developing websites lately.

Pros

The ability to make use of several extensions really helps me save time while writing code, the auto complete feature enables me to write code for web layouts quite effectively and provides me with a base template to further work on the internal structure and functions. The processing is fast and terminal works effortlessly.
Auto-complete
Extensions for various Languages and libraries
Built-in terminal
Easy workspace folder management system.

Cons

The auto complete sometimes messes up my coding speed by completing code chunks that it expects me to be writing while i might be writing a similar code structure. Having to disable it again and again or having to pay attention to it while working can sometimes become a hassle.

Its strong investigating apparatuses incorporates breakpoints, watch windows and step through troubleshooting empower recognizing and fixing issues without any problem. The range of extensions that this IDE supports is quite amazing!

Cons

One of the main cons is that VS Code takes up lot of resources , which leads to slowing the machine itself. Also, I did not find it suitable for android development . It needs a built in android studio support!

I was basically told to use this for class and I have never looked back. It has every feature I could need and way more.

Pros

I have found VS Code to be a great IDE for multiple languages. I do most of my coding for university classes in python and as such VS Code is a perfect beginner IDE that is easy to learn and use. I also love its simple integration with Github. I find that I prefer using the VS Code for all pushes/pulls and other related activities. It also has great ease of use with Anaconda development environments. 10/10 I always recommend this IDE to my other friends in Engineering.

Cons

For a beginner coder it has more bells and whistles then they need and might seem a bit daunting at first.

Visual Studio is the best IDE available because of its wide support for languages and the ability to fully customize it to your liking. The Work Spaces feature is extremely useful to us as we have multiple projects that we can be working on at one time. This makes it easy to switch between projects quickly and easily without ever leaving the IDE.

Pros

Free. Easy to setup and get started. Tons of extensions/themes to customize it. Work spaces. Native GIT integration.

Cons

Settings can be really hard to find because they are nested so deep and you have to use the command palette to access/toggle them. Microsoft owned product so there is telemetry that is sent back to them.

I tried different editor before setting to VS Code, in my opinion it is the best compromise between lightness, features and possibility of customization. You can use as a lightweight text editor or as a fully IDE via extensions. With WSL2 integration, for me it is a must on Windows os.

Pros

I use Visual Studio Code for web development on a daily basis, using the docker engine on the Windows Subsystem for Linux. It integrates well with Docker and Docker Compose and all the languages I need are fully supported. It launches very fast with about 15 extensions enabled, so you can use it to quickly open some text files in your system as well. I can customize everything I need in the UI (natively or through extensions), so it's an editor that everyone can adapt to their needs

Cons

Using the remote server in the WSL2, you find yourself at having two different set of extensions enabled, one set locally and the other one on the remote server.
