Pros
Magnet AXIOM is a digital forensics tool very useful for extracting, analyzing, and reporting on digital evidence from various sources, including computers, mobile devices, and cloud services; it possesses comprehensive capabilities, allowing investigators to examine digital data, recover deleted data, and analyze various file formats. It provides a user-friendly interface. It is the ideal software for investigations related to cybersecurity incidents and others,...
Cons
It faces challenges in handling encrypted or protected data, limiting access to certain information. Users also need to be well-trained to maximize the tool's capabilities. The developers have to make it easier for us

Best tool on the market overall. If you could only have one tool, it would be Axiom.
Best tool on the market overall. If you could only have one tool, it would be Axiom.
Pros
Magnet stay current with new phones and other evidence sources.
Cons
Report could be more configurable. The end result is only useful if you have just a handful of items. If you have alot, their is too much detail, even when turned down.

Detego Digital ForensicsReasons for Choosing Magnet AXIOM
Both EnCase and FTK chased the corporate market. Forgot about the end user, features fell off and were not updated, prices went thru the roof, for features that only large corps/firms could use. I didnt leave them, they left me.Reasons for Switching to Magnet AXIOM
Best overall, support, customer service. Detego does some thing better. But you guy have the well rounded product with the investigator in mind. The moment you go all corporate, despite what your sales people sale, someone else will take your place.- Industry: Law Enforcement Software

I like a lot about this tool. It is one of my main go to daily tools. The keyword searching is great. I've been a fan of Magnet since IEF.
Pros
I prefer it in the artifacts view. Ease of use.
Cons
I would like to use the file system more, however when drilling down to a specific pathway, there is no way for me to view the content in a gallery view. This would be extremely helpful in exploitation cases where one folder can contain all the contraband. I can't use it for previews without processing everything first. An additional module to simply load the drive and review before processing would be nearly a perfect tool.

Forensic Toolkit (FTK)Reasons for Switching to Magnet AXIOM
We discontinued FTK. For other reasons against my request, we also discontinued X-ways. We ended up purchasing a second axiom dongle and outrider.- Industry: Law Enforcement Software

Magnet Axiom Review

Pros
The product has a very logical workflow from start to finish. This makes it much easier when preforming advanced functions as the workflow that you use daily can be adapted and customized. The recent integration with the THORN classification for images has been a major upgrade which will save time and get investigators to evidence faster.
Cons
What I like least is that they are not well known for mobile device examinations in our space. They are the go-to product for computer examinations however when mentioning mobile examinations to investigators, they are used to and want a "Cellebrite Reader". The software is capable and does the same if not more (OCR) which is helpful but with a different user interface, investigators a weary to try it.

Although we use Cellebrite to image phones, Axiom does a much more complete and easy to search set of data. Cellebrite PA is far less capable, owing to Axiom's recursive filtering that helps to pare down to the smoking guns that lie waiting in the troves of data.
Pros
It presents very well to our legal, corporate and law enforcement clientele and partners. We are able to create a portable case file which contains all of the evidence and collates it in a way that makes sense to anyone observing the reports. It helps to paint a very vivid and compelling picture.
Cons
Axiom doesn't handle imaging well at all compared with Cellebrite for mobile and FTK for computers. If it did imaging better, we might only need the one tool.
