I've tried a variety of glorified PDF editors, including offerings from top names before I discovered Kreo. Kreo's shape recognition algorithms speed my process by identifying areas and measuring them for me. Specifically, the bucket-fill measurement tool continues to get better and better, and relieves me from a bunch of fine-point clicking to trace the perimeter of convoluted shapes (especially helpful for shaky hands). Kreo then provides outputs in Excel that I can directly plug-in to my models. I use it now for every job. > > **Cons**: Kreo works best with vector drawings and modern building floorplans. Most of my work involves scans of registered condominium plans into the Land Records database. Consequently, it's difficult to get the most out of the "automagical" features. I wish Kreo had the feature like OST where if you define a linear condition as wood base, it would calculate all wood base under 1 line item. With Kreo, each time you start and stop, a new condition is created. > > Overall I believe Kreo stands out and is definitely trending in the right direction for the future of take offs. There is of course room for improvement and this is achievable when there are more users and Kreo has more feedback.
