About ProtonMail

ProtonMail is a web-based email management platform that helps businesses securely transmit encrypted emails between users both inside and outside of the organisation.

ProtonMail allows users to create accounts with automatic PGP key creation and management. It stores the messages in an encrypted format, eliminating the risk of message interception. The Android and iOS mobile applications also offer a variety of other features such as customizable swipe gestures and the capability to send expiring emails.

Users can set timers for messages to self-destruct after they are sent. It also sends push notifications for new emails and organizes them using labels.

ProtonMail for Coaches

Overall I am very pleased with Protonmail.

Overall I am very pleased with Protonmail.

Pros

Secured e-mails is what I love the most about ProtonMail. My clients are able to take comfort in knowing that our conversation and confidential info is secure.

Cons

The only thing I least like is that I cannot integrate to Honeybook and have to use an alternative business e-mail.

ProtonMail is a wonderful experience!

I really enjoy using ProtonMail. It was easy and intuitive to adopt. All of its features are on par or better than its competitors with the added benefits of encryption. I appreciate the company communications about their mission and sense of corporate advocacy (they support journalists and others who need secure communications). Being a paid member of the Proton world (Mail, Drive, VPN) feels like a very personal experience in the generally faceless, mega-corporate online communications industry.

Pros

There is so much I love about this product - the encryption, the minimal (not distracting) layout, the ease of use, the fun extras (like alternate addresses) - but what really sets it apart is the customer service. Of course there is a written help guide and it is also clear and, well, helpful. If that doesn't answer my question or solve my problem, I can easily email a real person and expect a thorough and polite response within a day. Coming from past applications where no human could be found, this was breath-taking enough. New to this treatment, I was remiss in replying. Imagine my delight and amazement when I then received a follow-up email asking if this had solved my issue and could they consider the service request closed? This is a civilized way to run a software company.

Cons

Accessing filter creation and editing requires clicking through more than one screen and I would love a "filter this" button in greater proximity to the actual email. The company regularly requests feedback from users and I have included this, so I am hopeful it is on a work list somewhere in their pipeline.

Great for separating work email from personal email

Reviewed on 26/09/2022

Pros

I love ProtonMail's default domain name options and the ultra-simple, clean interface of the app and web version. It's great to know that my work emails are secure from the start without having to dig deep into the account settings. I love having zero spam in my work inbox.

Cons

The search functionality could be improved, as I have trouble finding past emails based on keywords, whereas this is not a problem with Gmail.

A weird ProtonMail policy

Until they blocked my email account because of a non-payment to the irrelevant VPN service I was very happy.
The VPN is OK, having a secure core, not many servers as others but it's quite fast.
My advice is - if you look for a VPN to check NordVPN, ExpessVPN, and ProtonVPN - they are all good.
But IF you chose PROTON, make an account for VPN only and do not keep your important emails there because they are desorganized with accounts and better keep your mail separate from VPN in this case.

Pros

End-to-end encryption. Easy to use interface with search feature working fast. You can send encrypted email even to Gmail or any other provider, but encrypting the contents with a password - and the recipient can open it in a browser. He can also reply in encrypted mode even without having a protonmail account.
In paid plans, you can also add your company's logo and seamlessly integrate encrypted proton technology.
They also offer the ProtonVPN service, unlimited that is the only one offering no-limit VPN up to today (April 2021).
The customer service is fast, very polite, and educated.

Cons

1. To make an account for ProtonVPN, you must first create an account for ProtonMail. Up to this - it's Okay. You may use both plans for free for years, and nobody will push you to move to a paid plan. BUT IF you move to a paid VPN service and for any reason, your card fails to renew the VPN, THEN they are ALSO blocking the INBOX to your email account until you pay for the VPN. I mean, they could stop the VPN or move you to a free plan, but to block email because you didn't pay the VPN... it's weird.
2. During registration, they push to put a credit card on the grounds to avoid spam. But there are other ways to prevent bots from making accounts.
3. do not encrypt subject lines but only the content of the email.
4. Subscription is relatively expensive compared to other providers.
5. Generally, communication with the support team is by Zendesk - an independent company. What about encryption here?

I have a lot of fun using ProtonMail. Adopting it was simple and natural. With the benefits of encryption, all of its features are on par with or better than those of its rivals. I value how the business communicates its mission and sense of corporate responsibility.

Pros

ProtonMail makes the claim that it is more concerned with privacy and only retains the functionally essential logs. Since the shift, I've found that the advertising have become less relevant to the items I would want, demonstrating the seriousness with which they take privacy. Your official and private communications are well-secured using this technology. It offers a high degree of privacy. No advertising are displayed.

Cons

The free version offers a tiny amount of storage. UI appears to be a little antiquated. lacks contemporary email features. The expression "if you lose it, you lose your access is one recovery technique.
