## Overview

### Key benefits of Pro Tip Tracker

Save 5–10 hours a week on manual tip-out and payroll prep, freeing managers from rebuilding spreadsheets every Sunday.

Reduce the risk of common wage-and-hour errors with compliance logic covering tip credit, spread-of-hours pay, minimum wage make-up, and multi-role overtime across all 50 states + DC.

Build staff trust with full transparency — every team member can see exactly what they earned and why, including real-time average hourly earnings across the week, month, and year.

Stay flexible with tip distribution — configure even splits, hours-weighted models, role-tiered structures, or fully custom rules instead of being locked into a single template.

Export payroll in one click as a PDF or CSV, formatted and ready for any payroll provider — no manual re-entry.

Protect compliance continuity through management turnover — wage rules are built into the system rather than dependent on any one manager remembering the details.

Get support from people who've actually run hospitality venues, not a generic call center.

### "Genuinely Worth It" — 5.0/5

> **Lauren** | *3 September 2026* | Hospitality | Recommendation rating: 10.0/10
>
> **Pros**: It saves us hours of administrative work while giving us peace of mind that we're staying on top of labor requirements. Our workers love the transparency and easy access to their payroll information, which, as a cooperative built around shared ownership and trust, is something we're especially thrilled about.
>
> **Cons**: It does require a subscription fee, but it's comparable if not cheaper than other options, and has more built in compliance features than Toast's native tool.
>
> Running a small, worker-owned bar means there are already a million things competing for our attention, and Pro Tip has made payroll and bar compliance one less thing to worry about. Whenever something weird or specific comes up, which in our chosen profession is often, we get a quick, straightforward answer from an actual person who understands our business, and that combo of transparency, responsiveness, and reassurance is why Pro Tip works so well for Donna. As a business owner who balks at the endless stream of subscription services, Pro Tip is one that feels genuinely worth it for its ease of use and compliance-forward functionality.

>
> **Pros**: It has made payroll and compliance tracking so much easier. I feel extremely confident knowing that such a complicated process is being handled as thoroughly and efficiently as possible.
>
> **Cons**: That I didn't have this tool years ago. I struggled with so many custom solutions and platforms that just couldn't keep up with my rapidly changing needs and the laws.
>
> It has been fantastic. The platform is extremely robust and any issues or questions I have are very quickly resolved. We are talking within minutes at times.

When something's off, staff notice — and trust erodes.\n\nWhat Pro Tip Does - \nPro Tip sits between your POS and your payroll platform, automating the calculations that usually fall through the cracks:\n\n- Wage compliance logic covering all 50 states + DC, including tip credit make-up, spread-of-hours pay, and multi-role overtime\n- Flexible tip distribution models — even splits, hours-weighted, role-tiered, or fully custom rules\n- Real-time analytics so managers and staff can see hours, tips, and average hourly earnings at a glance\n- One-click payroll export (PDF or CSV) compatible with any payroll provider\n- Toast POS integration on the Connected plan, with more integrations on the roadmap\n\nWhy It's Different - \nPro Tip was built by an operator, not a generic HR software company — informed by two decades of running high-volume rooms and the exact tip-out headaches hospitality managers deal with every shift. The compliance rules are designed to be reviewed and kept current as state wage laws change, so accuracy doesn't depend on any one manager remembering the details — it survives every hire, every departure, and every busy Saturday.\n\nWho It's For - \nIndependent restaurants, bars, hotels, and multi-location hospitality groups that want transparent, defensible tip distribution without hiring a compliance consultant or maintaining a manual spreadsheet.\n\nPlans start at $24.99/month, with enterprise pricing available for larger operations.
