Stripe
About Stripe
Stripe is an online payment processing tool for internet businesses. Whether managing a subscription service, an on-demand marketplace, an e-commerce store, or a crowdfunding platform, Stripe’s meticulously designed APIs and functionality help users create the best possible product for their users.
Stripe allows users to bill customers on a recurring basis, set up a marketplace, or simply accept payments using its fully integrated, global payments platform. Developers are able to rapidly build production-ready integrations with modern tools, from React components to real-time webhooks. Using Stripe’s developer platform means less maintenance for legacy systems and more focus on core customer and product experiences.
Organizations can accept all major debit and credit card payments in 135+ currencies. If needed, enable 3D Secure for any payment. Stripe supports more than just cards using global payment methods, which can be activated from the dashboard including ACH credit transfers, Alipay, Bancontact, Giropay, and more.
Stripe’s elegant abstractions simplify adding or changing billing models, including a powerful interface to test and roll out new pricing easily. Users can bill customers with one-off invoices or automatically on a recurring basis. Go global with support for different payment methods. The Stripe billing API is easy to integrate into existing websites, mobile apps, or even CRM systems. Developers can use out-of-the-box functionality to get started quickly or use our composable API building blocks to design fully customized subscription logic and pricing models.
Users can create and manage subscriptions and invoices—and view detailed financial reports—directly from the dashboard. Stripe doesn’t limit the number of team members that can be added and supports granular roles and permissions to help manage access.
Connect, Stripe's routing and payout engine, will automatically track balances, batch earnings into payouts, time transfers with local cutoffs, and retry failed transfers. Users can also incorporate advanced flows like account debits, one-to-many payments, and others. Connect’s payout engine lets users specify payout timing for users, and includes instant payouts, which allows users to receive funds within minutes. Connect helps get recipients paid faster and removes errors and reconciliation work.

The Best Payment Processer For Freelancers

I have had an excellent experience with Stripe and have been using it to receive payments for over 4 years now. I've never had any issues in that time or had to contact customer support.
Pros
Stripe is very easy to integrate with invoicing software (I am using Zoho Invoice), and allows me to accept client payments by credit/debit card as a freelance writer. It is also trusted by clients, and since I started offering Stripe payments, I have found that I am now getting paid in half the time as when I offered bank transfers/Paypal. The fees are also a lot less than PayPal.
Cons
The only con I have had is that it took a long time (about 1.5 weeks) to receive the very first payout due to verification processes. But after that, I now receive a payout to my bank account within 2-3 days each time.

Square PaymentsReasons for Choosing Stripe
I really don't trust PayPal anymore. I've had many issues where they withhold funds, and also they have some of the worst fees and exchange rates from any platform ever, which is a huge problem when accepting large payments or funds in different currencies as I do regularly.Switched From
PayPalReasons for Switching to Stripe
I had many other freelancers also recommend Stripe to me, so ended up trying it out, and was very happy with the service. It is easy to set up, reliable and processes payments very quickly.- Industry: Consumer Goods

Stripe is the Payment Processor To Fit Any Business Needs
Reviewed on 02/05/2024
Pros
The various feature embedded in Stripe for multiple different payment option capabilities is phenomenal. They have detailed outline of payment intents to look back at immediately should there be a problem with a debit or credit card that was ran for payment and they have security detection on transactions that don't feel genuine especially if running it manually. I love it. You also have the ability to send out invoices and payment links to customers saving the hassle of leaving their own home for a phone in order to deliver gifts to family/friends from miles away!
Cons
The only cons is the whole Ruby Gem and developer code setup if you don't know how to implement this on your own website you're building or even in your own cloud server or network server. It takes alot of research and how-to articles to read to start learning it as you go and if you're a beginner thats unfamiliar with command line basics and a terminal to launch from then you're in trouble! Ha!Ha!
Reasons for Choosing Stripe
Square has a tendency to just freeze accounts and not even allow legitimate appeal of the decision and they do so without warning. If you have money in the account when they do decide to just cut you off they hold onto it for at least 180 days if I remember correctly and there is nothing you can do about it. That's unacceptable.Switched From
Square PaymentsReasons for Switching to Stripe
For the same reason I chose Stripe over Square.... they have the same bad habit of freezing accounts just on a whim with no notice and keep business owners from revenue just because they can and are in no hurry to allow you access to your funds even if proven legitimate long before they'll release their hold on them.- Industry: Consumer Services

Easy onboarding and quick money transfer
Reviewed on 31/10/2024
Pros
It's very fast to sign up and go through onboarding. Stripe works with a great number of countries all over the world and the speed of money transfer from your Stripe account to your bank account is rather high (1-3 days)
Cons
Their fees are not reasonable and they charge you additionally for those features, which are commonly provided by payment gateways by default.
