About Basecamp
Basecamp is a collaborative project management software and daily task tracking application suitable for use by teams of all sizes, from SMBs to large enterprises. As well as providing features for task management and team communication, Basecamp enables the management and safe, secure storage of project related material and communications.
Basecamp can be used by freelancers and small teams, as well as dispersed, multinational teams to communicate on project ideas, tasks and deadlines and streamline remote work. Basecamp's project management tool, with native mobile app, can be used to send messages, share and collaborate on files and documents, time tasks, define deadlines, and give feedback.
Basecamp uses a simple, visual user interface to help individuals and teams manage their shared and personal projects and tasks, and track project progress. Within each team member's Basecamp account, the dashboard provides an overview of all assignments, notifications, discussions, to-dos, files, text documents and events in a single glance.
The optional permissions and views in Basecamp mean users can choose which team mates and clients to collaborate with. The message board tool can be used to send messages, host discussions, organize events and meetings, share files and emails, and assign tasks.
Basecamp provides a project management and team collaboration solution for organizing both internal team projects, as well as client projects. Admins can choose to restrict permissions and views for project items, as well as entire projects. This allows users to share certain items with clients, while keeping other items private for sharing among the team.
Basecamp Business costs a flat fee of $99/month, for unlimited users, projects and clients. Basecamp Personal - a free version - is available for personal project management, students, freelancers, and families.

Basecamp is an interactive and practical platform for remote work, I like it because you can organize everything in one place, I can create chat groups and thus have a more orderly communication with my team, the interface is simple and its dashboard is intuitive, you can order the To-Dos, message board in one place.
Pros
What I like about using Basecamp is the ability to see who is responsible for what tasks, as well as their due date and current status. It is a wonderful resource for project cooperation and responsibility management and is an ideal tool for project management for organizations of any size. Access to every aspect of a project is vital for our company, since we are continually seeking to improve how we manage projects and interact. The variety of templates and the option to collaborate with others are two of my favorite features. When one user edits a sheet, the other user who is logged in can access the updated version, It is easy to add collaborators and view who else is on the sheet simultaneously.
Cons
It lacks better integration with Excel to generate better results.

Basecamp gives you a lot of bang for the buck
Reviewed on 18/05/2022
Pros
Basecamp does almost everything we need to do, with the ability to use the APIs we've managed to extend Basecamp to work with our internal and some external systems. Every single project is tracked and managed via the app, our project hours are recorded against each project using the API and we can report on these for costings at any point.
There are more competent project management software packages out there, but all of these charge per user and would be a lot more expensive.
Cons
There's a few small features missing, one of these is project management across multiple projects, we're not able to produce GANNT charts or assign people to projects with working hours to ensure the member of staff isn't overloaded. This is minor overall but would definitely be something great to have.

I mostly felt frustrated with it. Comments and conversations would get lost in the shuffle and there wasn't a good way to group projects into departments. It works great for one project at a time but I often had over 12 projects running at a time and it just didn't work for me. There are better solutions now.
Pros
It's ok. It works. You can handle some project management with it.
Cons
I didn't like the way it organized comments and it just didn't work well for my team.

One of the best Project Management tools out there, but is it for you?

WE LOVED using Basecamp at the beginning, but as our company kept growing, and had different clients, different level of projects, some easy some complex, or many per client, we saw twhere Basecamps' limitations lie. BUT, it's just felt that this was very specific to my industry(where you handle many clients and many projects, smaller projects, etc). But if you're a company looking to have this tool for your Internal project, it's GOOD. Easy to use, fast, etc. It's quite different than trello or asana, or even clickup. It's way simpler. And you have to get used to the only view they give you. Other than that, it's a great tool.
Pros
We love this software:
- Ease of use
- Easy to onboard and explain
- The best pricing model out there. Unlimited users, only one price per month. THANK YOU
- Good support
- Great integrations with third party apps
Cons
- No sub sub tasks
- Not the best tool to handle different projects at the same time with different structures
- Not the best tool for certain industries, like Agencies or the ones that handle multiple clients.
Alternatives Considered
AsanaReasons for Choosing Basecamp
We saw it quite hard to handle different clients with diffrent boards, structures, etc.Switched From

I wish there were faster at deploying new features and listening more to their customers
